A US immigration judge has denied Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s request to reopen his 2019 asylum case. The Salvadoran national, who has an American wife and children, was previously deported to El Salvador in error and returned to the US in June. He now faces criminal charges in Tennessee and proposed deportation to Uganda or Eswatini. Abrego Garcia has 30 days to appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
