What to expect next after US Court rules Trump’s tariffs ‘illegal’

The US court of Appeals has ruled that Trump’s ‘reciprocal tariffs’ are unconstitutional and illegally imposed.

Despite the ruling on Saturday, the trading tariffs remain in place for now, allowing Donald Trump’s White House to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Simon Marks talks to Vanessa Feltz about what this could mean for Trump’s popularity in office as well as the US economy.

Marks warns that due to the court ruling, the US government may have to ‘refund billions of dollars’ to countries hit with the tax in order to compensate. This, Simon Marks believes, would ‘create a hole in the US public finance’ and ‘get unbelievably messy.’

Simons Marks also discusses Trump’s approval rating, which has plummeted below fellow presidents’ Barack Obama and Joe Biden during their time in office.
